A woman booked into jail for Driving on a Suspended License in the 3rd Degree at 2:40pm this afternoon, was released, walked back to her car, and crashed into another car at 4:32pm.  Erin P Edwards (39) is being sought by police after she fled the scene of the crash at 2nd Ave. and Spokane St. on foot. She was last seen westbound on 3rd Ave. near the Goodwill store.

At 2:16pm this afternoon, Ofc. Canty stopped Edwards for not having working brake lights and no front plate on her 1992 Buick Century. After discovering she was driving on a suspended license, he booked her into Spokane County Jail for that charge.

At 4:32pm, Ofc. Canty and several other officers responded to a two car crash at 2nd/Spokane. A Buick Century was traveling northbound on Spokane St., failed to stop for a stop sign, attempted to cross three lanes of traffic on westbound 2nd Ave., and hit a Ford F150 in the far right westbound lane. The Ford F150 then crashed into the Marilee Apartments causing significant structural damage to the southeast corner of the building; so much so Spokane Fire personnel called a building inspector out to check the structural integrity of the building prior to pulling the truck out.

Witnesses reported that the female driver of a Buick had fled on foot and had given a description of her and her clothing. Ofc. Canty immediately recognized Edwards’ as the suspect of the hit and run and advised incoming units. Unfortunately, as of this press release, Edwards has yet to be located. She was last seen on foot wearing a purple tie dye tank top and torn black leggings. She’s a white female, 5’6”, thin build with blonde hair and is known to frequent the downtown core. If you see her or know her whereabouts, please call 911.

Despite the carnage in the attached pictures, there were no significant injuries during this incident. The two other people involved, the driver of the F150 and a passenger in Edwards’ car were treated and released at the scene.
