Detectives Relentlessly Search for Suspects Associated with Criminal Activity at the Red Top Motel

Yesterday, Spokane Valley Investigative Unit (SVIU) Detectives, relentless in their search to locate and arrest suspects identified during the Red Top Motel investigation, developed information one of the suspects was at a residence located in the 900 block of N. Burns in Spokane Valley.  A search warrant was served at the residence late in the evening with the assistance of the SWAT Team, K9 Unit, and Air 1.  Multiple people were contacted, one arrest was made for unrelated warrants and Detectives seized Methamphetamine, Heroin, and an Armalite Ar-15 style rifle.

On February 21, 2018, SVIU Detectives, continuing their unrelenting search to find and arrest the suspects associated with the criminal activity identified in the Red Top Motel investigation, obtained information one of the suspects had been seen earlier at a residence on N. Burns.

Detective Thurman, very familiar with the residence, the criminal/violent criminal offenders known to frequent or stay there, and the high amount of criminal activity/calls for service (over 25 incidents in the last year involving stolen vehicle, recovered firearms, warrants, fights, drug activity, etc.) at the location, requested and obtained a search warrant for the location.  The SWAT Team and additional Spokane Valley Deputies and Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies were called in to assist.

Prior to 9:30 p.m., the SWAT Team arrived at the residence and safely executed the search warrant with Air 1 flying overhead.  Multiple people were contacted and once all the vehicles/buildings were cleared, the scene was released to SVIU Detectives for further investigation and evidence collection.

An Armalite AR-15 style rife (pictured) was located and seized.  A check of the serial number did not show it had been reported stolen.  Detectives are asking anyone who is missing or had an Armalite rifle like this stolen but may not have had the serial number to call Detective Thurman at 509-477-3278 and leave a message with your name, contact information and your report number.

Additional amounts of Methamphetamine, Heroin, and paraphernalia associated with the use and possible sales of illegal drugs were located and seized for further investigation and testing.

The primary suspect was not found at the location when the warrant was served.  One person was arrested on unrelated misdemeanor warrants.

SVIU Detectives, Spokane Valley Police Department and Spokane County Sheriff’s Office truly appreciates the tips/information and assistance we have received from concerned and vigilant citizens of our community.  This investigation is still active as Detectives continue their pursuit to locate and arrest these suspects who continually demonstrate their willingness to commit crimes.

Air 1 video clip: SWAT Team members contacting several people as they exit an RV during the service of a search warrant.  The location is a large lot with a residence and several RV/campers, cars, and other obstacles/places to hide.  Air 1 with its FLIR camera flew overhead during this operation, which took a considerable amount of time, to ensure no one was hiding from or approaching Deputies on the ground.
