Agents from the U.S. Border Patrol’s Spokane Station apprehended a Kenyan national on Sunday at the Spokane Intermodal Bus Station.

While performing transportation check duties, agents encountered a Kenyan national who had entered the country with a valid F-1 student visa.  Agents determined he was now illegally present in the United States for failure to maintain conditions of his visa.  Additionally, the individual initially presented a fraudulent identification document to the agents in an attempt to pass himself off as someone else.

He was arrested and then transported to the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma where he will await removal proceedings.

“This event further demonstrates the great lengths that people will go to in order to conceal their identity and hide from the law,” stated Chief Patrol Agent Henry Rolon.  “We encounter all types of criminal and immigration violations.  In this case, the person was out of status as he was no longer engaged in the activities that allowed him to remain in the United States.  Regardless of nationality, those individuals who are found to be in violation of immigration laws will be apprehended and processed for removal as required.”
