Breaking: Arrest Made in Fatal Hit and Run Crestline and Wellesley

The Spokane Police Patrol Anti-Crime Team make an arrest in the investigation of the fatal collision that occurred at Crestline and Wellesley on 10-09-19 just before midnight.  The collision involved an SUV that struck a male on a Lime scooter which resulted in the death of the scooter rider and the driver of the SUV fleeing the scene.   (See Original press release below.)

Members of the Spokane Police PAC team identified and located the suspect Desean Weeks, he is being charged with Vehicular Homicide and Felony Hit and Run.

Spokane Police Officers responded to a Fatality Hit and Run in the late hours of 10/09/2019.

On 10-09-19, at approximately 11:53 pm, Spokane Police Officers responded to a Fatality Hit and Run Collision at N Crestline St and E Wellesley Ave between an SUV and a pedestrian. The male who was struck by the SUV succumbed to his injuries on scene. Major Crimes Collision Investigators were called to the scene due to the serious nature of the crime.

The possible suspect vehicle was located a short while later at N Pittsburgh and E Empire Ave. The suspect vehicle appeared to have rolled over after fleeing the scene of the fatality. Individuals residing in the area called in a regarding a male running through yards in the area and it is believed he is the driver. The male was described as a Native American male with shoulder length black hair and wearing darker clothing with possibly a red flannel jacket. Spokane Police Officers in the area are currently on a perimeter and are working multiple K9s in an attempt to track down the suspect driver. The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Air 1 helicopter has also been called in to check the area.

This investigation is in the preliminary stages and will take a few hours. E Wellesley from N Napa St to N Crestline will be shut down for some time.
