Update: The current fire information number has been overwhelmed and information officers cannot respond to voice mails. The information below reflects the most current known information. The Cape Horn Fire is located near Cape Horn on the south end of Lake Pend Orielle. The fire is exhibiting rapid spread and evacuations have been issued by the Bonner County Sheriff in the Cape Horn and Bayview areas using reverse 911. If you are contacted for evacuation you are strongly encouraged to obey the request for your safety and that of responding firefighters. In areas where it is safe to do so, structure assessment crews are working to identify any structure damage or loss. As of July 15, 2015 at 7:00 pm crews have confirmed three structures destroyed. It is not known at this time what type of structures were destroyed. Current evacuations are in place for Cape Horn Road and all roads to the east including all of Perimeter Road. An evacuation center has been established at Timberlake High School located on Highway 54 in Spirit Lake, Idaho. The fire was first reported early this afternoon and current information is limited. The cause is not known at this time. Responding firefighters have placed their highest priority on protecting life and property during the early stages of this incident.
