Crude Oil Terminal Topic at Jan. 12 Public Hearing

SPOKANE VALLEY, WA
—  Your thoughts on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the proposed Tesoro Savage Vancouver Energy Distribution Terminal Facility (Terminal Facility) are sought by the Spokane Valley City Council as they prepare written comment for submission to the Washington State Energy Facility Site Evaluation Council (EFSEC) by the January 22 deadline for comments on the project.

Comments from the community will be accepted by the Spokane Valley City Council at a Public Hearing on Tuesday, January 12, 2016.  The hearing will be held at 6:00pm in Council Chambers at City Hall, 11707 E. Sprague Avenue, and all are welcome to participate.

Community members can also submit their comments to the City Council by email no later than Friday, January 15, 2016 to cbainbridge@spokanevalley.org, or by mail to City Clerk Chris Bainbridge, Spokane Valley City Hall, 11707 E. Sprague Ave., Suite 106, Spokane Valley, WA, 99206.

The proposed Terminal Facility to be located within the Port of Vancouver, WA, could result in an estimated eight to ten additional crude oil unit trains traveling through Spokane Valley each day.  The Draft Environmental Impact Statement identifies potential impacts to traffic wait times, emergency access, train horns and train noise, exposure to highly flammable materials and other impacts.

Individuals planning to attend the January 12 Spokane Valley City Council meeting who require special assistance to accommodate physical, hearing, or other impairments should contact the Spokane Valley City Clerk at 509-720-5102 orcbainbridge@spokanevalley.org as soon as possible so arrangements may be made”
