Deputies at the Scene of a Deadly Fall Near Morin Trailhead

Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Deputies are at the scene of a reported fatal fall from the steep rock cliffs near the Morin Trailhead earlier this evening.

On September 6, 2019, just prior to 7:00 p.m., a caller reported his friend fell from the rocks near the Morin Trailhead, located in the 4500 block of N. Equestrian Ln., inside Riverside State Park.

Initial information indicates the witness and his friend (both adult males in their early twenties) ventured out on the rocks and extremely high cliffs.  As they started to make their way back, the witness crossed a narrow potion first, and when he looked back after reaching safe footing, his friend was gone.

The male did not survive and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the decedent at a later date when appropriate.
