Deputies Catch Armed Robbery Suspects
On June 15th, 2015, just after 7:00 p.m., Spokane County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a robbery where the victim stated he was held at gunpoint.
Deputies responded to the 6500 block of North Jefferson Street in North Spokane County to contact the victim.
The victim told deputies 19-year-old Zachary D. McDonald, 22-year-old Alexander C. Turner, and a 17-year-old juvenile arrived at his residence. He stated he has allowed the juvenile to stay at his residence on and off over the past couple months and he knows McDonald and Turner because they are friends of the juvenile.
He said the juvenile pulled out a black semi-auto handgun and said “Give me all your money and the combination for your safe.â€Â He told them he didn’t have any money and would not provide the combination. When he tried to stand up, the juvenile struck him on the head with the handgun. The juvenile handed the pistol to McDonald and he and Turner removed the victim’s safe from the bedroom, loaded it in their vehicle and drove away.
With the suspects named, deputies went to a possible location in area of the 20400 block of North Newport Frontage Road and obtained permission form the property owner to search for the suspects. The property owner stated he knew the suspects were there and yelled for them to come forward. McDonald and Turner walked out to meet the deputies. The property was searched but the juvenile was not located.
After advising McDonald and Turner of their rights, both were interviewed and subsequently arrested.
McDonald and Turner were transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail for Robbery 1st Degree.
McDonald declined to give consent for his vehicle to be searched. His vehicle was seized as evidence pending the approval of a search warrant.
Charges were forwarded for the juvenile and a warrant was requested.
The victim declined medical attention.
