“DV Suspect Flees from Deputies
Last night, Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies attempted to contact the suspect of a domestic violence investigation in North Spokane County, however, 33-year-old Sam C. Ingram fled in a vehicle. During the ensuing pursuit, Ingram was extremely reckless and even struck a deputy’s vehicle as he attempted a PIT maneuver to safely end the pursuit. In the 14400 block of East Black Rd, Ingram drove into a field causing his vehicle to be disabled before fleeing on foot. An extensive search to locate Ingram was unsuccessful.
On April 26, 2017, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputy Ryan Truman was assisting with a domestic violence investigation where the victim reported she feared Ingram would kill her. With this information, in addition to two misdemeanor warrants for his arrest, Deputy Truman began looking for Ingram in the 34200 block of North Newport Hwy. (Hwy. 2).
A short time later, he observed Ingram, with an adult male passenger, arrive in the vehicle Ingram was reported to be driving. Deputy Truman activated his emergency lights to initiate an investigative stop but instead of stopping, Ingram accelerated rapidly and began to flee toward Hwy. 2. Ingram turned south on the highway and at times reach speeds over 100 mph, driving recklessly as he tried to evade.
In the area of Chattaroy Rd, Ingram slammed on his brakes in an attempt to turn but he lost control and spun off the road into the center median. Deputy Truman stopped in front of the vehicle, now facing him due to the spin, drew his weapon and ordered Ingram to show his hands. The passenger did as instructed but Ingram started to spin the car around to flee again. The passenger jumped out of the vehicle and put his hands in the air before Ingram could gain traction. Deputy Truman followed as Ingram fled east on Chattaroy Rd. and the uninjured passenger was contacted by assisting units.
Ingram continued to drive recklessly and attempts to safely end the pursuit where unsuccessful due to Ingram’s erratic braking and intentional swerving.
Near the 14400 block of East Black Rd., Ingram drove off road into a field and stopped a short time later due to the damage caused to his vehicle. Ingram fled on foot as assisting deputies began to set up a perimeter. Deputies, K9 Units, and Air 1 attempted to locate Ingram but the efforts were unsuccessful.
The passenger in Ingram’s vehicle was not charged and released.
Deputy Truman’s patrol vehicle substantiated minor damage (estimated: under $750) when Ingram hit his vehicle during the pursuit.
In addition to his misdemeanor warrants, Ingram faces charges of Attempting to Elude Law Enforcement, Driving While Suspended and a potential domestic violence charge of Harassment (Threats to Kill).
