Fatal House Fire in Medical Lake Â
Medical Lake Fire Department, assisted by several additional fire agencies, is at the scene of a fatal residential fire located in the 400 block of North Stanley St. in Medical Lake. Fire personnel are still at the scene as they work to determine how the fire started and if this is a tragic accident.Â
Early this morning, at approximately 12:45 a.m., Medical Lake Fire personnel responded to a report of smoke at a residence located in the 400 block of North Stanley St. When they arrived, they found a heavy amount of smoke and fire at the residence. Several additional fire agencies, Airway Heights Fire Department, Fairchild Fire Department, City of Spokane Fire Department and Spokane County Fire Districts 10, 9 & 3 responded to assist. In addition to the fire and smoke, fire personnel’s efforts to enter the residence was hampered due to the large amount of debris in and around the residence.
Once they were able to gain entry into the residence, they located a deceased adult female inside.
As per standard protocol with any unattended death, Spokane County Major Crimes Detectives were called to the scene to assist.
Investigators will continue processing the scene and collect evidence as they work to determine the cause of this fire.
The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the deceased, along with cause and manner of death, when appropriate to do so.
