Marijuana Deal Goes Bad

On Sunday September 27th, 2015, at approximately 9:50 p.m., Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputy Brad Humphrey responded to the 300 block of East Herb Street in Medical Lake to investigate a reported robbery.  The male victim was bleeding from cuts under his eye and laceration on the top of his head.  The victim was provided medical attention for his wounds as he spoke with Deputy Humphrey.

The victim said he was in the parking lot of the library with a friend using the free Wi-Fi on their phones.  He said the suspect, 18-year-old Seth M. Robinson-Verney, and a second adult male, both known by the victim, walked up to their car.  The second male suspect walked to the driver’s door and yanked in open.  The suspect grabbed the victim around the head and neck and began striking him with the butt of a black semi-auto pistol.  The victim put the vehicle in reverse and it lurched backward.  The suspect appeared to have been hit by the door and fell to the ground.  The victim said he heard a loud bang and thought the gun the suspect had might have gone off.  Both the second suspect and Robinson-Verney ran from the scene.

Additional deputies arrived to assist.  They began searching for the suspects while the victim and witness were interviewed.

The investigation revealed the victim and witness went to the library parking lot to meet Robinson-Verney to sell him marijuana.  This is when the second male opened the car door and began assaulting the victim in an attempted robbery.

Robin-Verney was located in the 600 block of South Jefferson and taken into custody.  He was later transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail for Robbery 1st Degree and Assault 1st Degree.

Neither the second suspect nor the firearm was located.  This investigation is an active ongoing and additional charges and/or arrests are expected.
