Motorcycle Fatal Crash on Broadway at Eastern
Spokane Valley Traffic Unit Investigators responded to a fatality motorcycle vs. truck pulling a 5th wheel trailer at the intersection of Broadway and Eastern in Spokane Valley.
On April 23, 2019, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the report of a possible fatal motorcycle crash.
Arriving Deputies learned the motorcycle rider was driving recklessly at a very high rate of speed as he traveled west on Broadway. The driver of a truck pulling a 5th wheel trailer traveling south on Eastern began to turn east on Broadway. The motorcycle driver was unable to stop due to his high rate of speed and crashed into the truck/trailer.
Spokane Valley Fire personnel responded, and the adult male rider of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Traffic Unit Investigators were requested to continue the investigation.
The initial investigation shows the motorcycle rider was wearing a helmet, but the chin strap was not fastened correctly and flew off during the crash. Speed and reckless driving were factors in this fatal crash.
The driver of the second vehicle involved was not injured and will not face any charges.
The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the decedent along with the cause and manner of death at a later date, when appropriate.
