SPD arrests prolific thief who purchased thousands of dollars’ worth of goods on credit cards stolen from vehicles
On April 6th, 2022, SPD’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) and Stolen Property Enforcement and Recovery (SPEAR) Unit located and arrested Jerrame A. Kimble – age 50 – in Northeast Spokane. The arrest followed a vehicle prowling incident from February 26, 2022 involving a vehicle parked at the Dishman Hills Conservation Area. Police developed probable cause to arrest Kimble for 1st Degree Identity Theft, 5 counts of Money Laundering, and 2 counts of 2nd Degree Possession of Stolen Property. Kimble was not located at that time. Yesterday’s arrest on those charges was a result of an ongoing investigation into multiple car prowling and theft cases in which Kimble and various accomplices are suspects.
This was not Kimble’s first arrest for similar crimes. On March 3rd, 2022, a female victim parked her car at a Daycare facility and attempted to hide her purse under some items but her window was broken out and the purse stolen. The victim had parked next to a vehicle occupied by Kimble and a female. The pair used the stolen credit cards to make purchases at Lowes, Walmart, gas stations and other outlets. In that case Kimble was booked into jail for 8 counts of 2nd Degree Theft, 2 counts of Money Laundering, and 1 count of 2nd Degree Identity Theft.
Kimble has an extensive history of vehicle prowling and theft of motor vehicles. Airway Heights Police currently have probable cause to arrest Kimble on 8 charges including identity theft and money laundering from a March 20, 2022 incident where again a vehicle was prowled and credit cards stolen. Kimble has 13 felony convictions.
SPD would like to remind people never to leave valuables including guns, wallets and purses in your car. Even if you think your items are well hidden, thieves know what to look for. Thieves target areas where they know people don’t take their valuables with them – gyms, trail heads, hospitals, etc. And if you are hiding valuables in your trunk, never do so at your destination as someone may be watching and know you’ve left something in your car. If something is stolen from your vehicle you are encouraged to report the incident to Crime Check. That way law enforcement can track hard hit areas and suspect information in order to identify and arrest those responsible for the thefts.
