Spokane Police officers arrest Idaho Murder suspect

Yesterday, June 18, 2016, just before 7:30 PM Spokane Police officers were assisting Spokane County Sheriff’s deputies with locating a reckless driver in the area of Freya and Upriver.

Spokane Police Officer Chris Johnson observed a male who matched the driver’s description walking in the area of Grace and Chronicle. Before Officer Johnson could exit his patrol vehicle the male started running through yards. Officer Johnson gave chase, eventually catching up with the male approximately three blocks later. Officer Johnson and Officer Joe Matt were able to take the male into custody without further incident.

Officers were able to identify the male as James P Mancuso who was wanted on a warrant for Second Degree Murder in Nampa, Idaho. Officer Johnson and Officer Matt had no idea that they were chasing a murder suspect.

Their dedication to protecting the citizens of Spokane resulted in a murder suspect being taken off the streets.

Nampa Idaho detectives were notified of the arrest and the Spokane Police Department Major Crimes Unit is assisting.

The vehicle Mancuso was in has been located and impounded.
