The Spokane Police Department investigated a threat call Thursday afternoon that resulted in a Juvenile being arrested for threats against a high school and its students.
On Thursday (3-30-17), just after 4pm, Spokane Police responded to Ferris High School for a threat made. One student at Ferris was involved in an argument over text messages with another student who attends a different school. The male juvenile had sent the Ferris student a message indicating that he could blow the school up or show up to the school and shoot it up.
Officers responded to that males residence a short time later. Officers interviewed the male, collected his phone as evidence and then booked him into Juvenile for Threat to bomb or injure property.
Because everybody involved in this incident are juvenile’s, we are not identifying them at this time.
The Police Department takes all threats seriously, especially those that are made against our schools and children in this community. There is a zero tolerance for threats made against schools or its students. We would also like to take moment to remind parents to please monitor you children’s cell phones and social media. There have been a lot of incidents that could have been stopped and intervened with way before it becomes a serious or legal issue.
