Stabbing at McDonald’s 2211 W. Wellesley

“The Spokane Police Department investigated a stabbing at a north side McDonald’s Sunday afternoon. The suspect stabbed a male in the bathroom and was taken into custody minutes later.

This afternoon, 10-16-16, just after 3:15pm, Spokane Police received a report of a stabbing at the McDonald’s located at 2211 W Wellesley. The victim was in the restroom when the suspect also entered. The victim alleged that he attempted to walk around the suspect to wash his hands. The suspect did not say a word to the victim. The suspect then pulled out a knife, slashed the victim in the face and then attempted to stab him in the stomach. The victim also stated that he and suspect did not know each other prior to this incident.

The victim stated he was able to grab onto the suspects arm and hold him at bay. The victim started to yell for help. Several customers and employee’s came running in. They all helped take the suspect to the ground and call 911. The suspect refused to drop the knife during the entire incident. Spokane Police patrol officers arrived shortly and were able to remove the knife from the suspect’s hand, then take him into custody.

The victim sustained non-life threatening wounds to his face and lower arms during the incident.

The suspect was identified as 53-year-old Darrell E McDuffee. He was later booked into Spokane County Jail for 1st Degree Assault.

The Spokane Police Department would like to thank the citizens involved in detaining the suspect until Police arrived. It’s also a good reminder to people about the dangers of getting involved in a situation like this and the risk to their own lives. If you see a crime in progress, always make sure to call 911 first.”
