Major Crimes Detectives Investigate Homicide in Newman Lake

Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Detectives are investigating the death of an adult female victim at a residence in Newman Lake as a homicide.

On November 24, 2017, just after 8:30 a.m., Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a residence in the 14000 block of N. Meadow Ln. to assist fire personnel already on scene.

The Fire Department responded to a report of a female with an unknown medical problem and provided medical attention to the female in her thirties.  Despite life-saving efforts, fire personnel pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

Deputies responded and observed obvious signs the victim had been physically assaulted and called Major Crimes Detectives to the location to continue the investigation.

Initial information is a male and his girlfriend where involved in an unreported domestic violence argument Thursday afternoon/evening.  This morning a 911 called was placed after the female was discovered injured and unresponsive

Detectives are requesting a search warrant for the residence and will be at the scene for several hours at a minimum.  The boyfriend of the victim has been detained and is currently being interviewed.

Meadow Ln. will be closed in the immediate area while the investigation continues.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the victim along with cause and manner of death when appropriate to do so.
