Serious Injury Collision on North Argonne Road

Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a serious injury collision yesterday evening on Argonne Rd. between Bigelow Gulch and Bruce Rd.  That portion of Argonne was closed for two hours while the crash was investigated.

On June 7, 2017, at approximately 4:40 p.m., Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a one vehicle rollover crash on Argonne Rd. north of Bigelow Gulch.  Information received by multiple callers stated the driver of the vehicle had been ejected and part of his leg had been amputated.

Traffic Unit Investigators were called to the scene while Deputies and SIRT Volunteers rerouted traffic.

Investigators determined the northbound 2000 Mazda P/U crossed over the centerline and struck a southbound flatbed trailer being towed by a full-size pickup.  The collision with the trailer sliced through the Mazda, striking the driver, severing a portion of his leg and the seat belt he was wearing.  The Mazda rolled and the driver was ejected.

The adult driver of the Mazda was transported to an area hospital for life-threatening injuries and upgraded to stable later in the evening.

The other driver involved was not injured.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of this crash and they do not believe impairment was a factor.
