Young Girl Reports Suspicious Male Grabbed Her Arm

A 12-year-old female told Deputies a male grabbed her arm as she walked home from her bus stop on Mayfair, north of Hastings.  She kicked the man, and he ran away.  Anyone with information regarding similar incidents in the area, who can help identify this male, or may have home security video of the male walking through the area is asked to call Crime Check at 509-456-2233.

On February 4, 2019, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Spokane County Sheriffā€™s Deputy Brandon Cinkovich responded to a suspicious circumstance.  He contacted a 12-year-old female and her mother at their residence.

The young girl said she was walking home from her bus stop just prior to 3:00 p.m. when she felt someone grab her arm.  She immediately kicked rearward, striking the person in the leg.  When she looked back, she observed a male running away.  She ran home and locked her door.  She confirmed the man grabbed her arm and began pulling back toward him but nothing was said and she doesnā€™t know why the male would have grabbed her.

Approximately an hour later, the young girlā€™s little sister was out playing with friends when she observed a male walking on Mayfair.  Believing it was the same male, she showed the male to her sister who confirmed he appeared to be the same male who attempted to grab her.

The male was described as possibly 5ā€™09-5ā€™11ā€, slim build (155-175 lbs.), wearing a red jacket, similar to a North Face style jacket, black jeans and unknown color of shoes.

At this time, it is not clear what the maleā€™s intentions were, but investigators would like to talk to him to determine his intent.

Anyone with information regarding similar incidents in the area, who can help identify this male, or may have home security video of the male walking through the area is asked to call Crime Check at 509-456-2233, reference #10016296.

This young girl did a great job getting the best description she could while staying safe.  Parents, please talk to your children about what they would do in a similar situation and how they can keep themselves safe.
