“On 10-29-17, just before 9PM, SPD responded to a stabbing in the 1300 block of W Boone. A tenant in the apartment building indicated his neighbor had been stabbed by an acquaintance.
Officers arrived on scene and contacted the victim, and learned that the suspect had barricaded himself in the victim’s bathroom. The suspect was reportedly still armed with a knife, and made comments that he would stab law enforcement officers who tried to apprehend him. The suspect also was said to be high on drugs.
Officers attempting to negotiate with the suspect for over a half hour, giving the suspect multiple opportunities to peacefully surrender. The suspect refused to obey the commands of law enforcement, and Officers were forced to breach the bathroom to take the suspect into custody. The suspect continued to fight with officers during the arrest process, but he was successfully apprehended. The suspect sustained superficial injuries during the incident and was transported to a local hospital prior to being booked into jail.
The suspect was identified as 44 year old Shane L. Johnson, and he will be charged with Assault 2ndDegree, a felony.
The stabbing victim was also transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
