During the November 16 windstorm, 2 women died in separate accidents. These deaths were widely reported, and involved a 54 year old woman on the South Hill who was struck by a falling tree limb in her back yard. The 2nd women, 54 years old, died when her motor vehicle was struck by a falling tree in the Cheney area.
In addition two men died in Spokane County in November as a result of windstorm caused power outages. One was a 70 year old who became incapacitated in his cold residence due to a heart attack, and died of hypothermia. The 2nd death, a 66 year old man had a stroke in his residence, was unable to seek help, and his death was also caused by hypothermia.
The Spokane County Medical Examinerâ€™s Office is a referral center for the Idaho Panhandle, and northeast Washington. The Medical Examinerâ€™s Office performed an autopsy for Bonner County in November. An elderly Bonner county male died of hypothermia at his residence in November, after the windstorm and resultant power outages.
