Fatal Motorcycle/Vehicle Collision on Broadway

This afternoon at approximate 4:25 p.m., Spokane Valley Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the scene of a serious motorcycle/vehicle collision in the 5200 block of East Broadway in Spokane Valley.

Deputies learned the Harley-Davidson motorcycle, driven by an adult male, was traveling eastbound on Broadway while the involved pickup truck, driven by an adult male, was travelling westbound.  Initial information shows the truck slowed and began to turn south across the eastbound lanes of Broadway into a business parking lot.  The motorcycle rider, believed to be traveling in excess of the posted speed limit laid the motorcycle down but continued to slide and struck the pickup truck.

The motorcycle rider sustains severe injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The driver of the truck appears to be uninjured and is cooperating with investigators.

Spokane Valley Traffic Collision Technicians were called to the scene to continue the investigation.  Investigators believe speed is a factor in the fatal collision.

The driver of the truck has not been charged at this time but this is an active, ongoing investigation as deputies continue to process the scene for evidence and interview witnesses.

Broadway will be closed for the next couple of hours between Havana and Yardley while this incident is investigated.

The name of the deceased will be released by the Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office at a later time when appropriate to do so.

Anyone who witnessed this incident and has not been contacted by investigators is asked to call Crime Check at 509-456-2233.

Deputy Mark Gregory

Spokane County Sheriff’s Office PIO
