Wanted Juveniles Arrested After Fleeing Idaho in Stolen Jeep

Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested two juvenile males after an early morning, high-speed pursuit began in Kootenai County and continued into Spokane County.  The juveniles ran on foot after the tires of the reported stolen vehicle were deflated from successful deployments of spike strips.

On April 7, 2017, at approximately 3:00 a.m., Kootenai County Sheriff’s Deputies advised they were in pursuit of a reported stolen Jeep Cherokee and were approaching the state line.  Additional information provided the driver had an active felony warrant for his arrest.

Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies, Spokane Valley Deputies, Liberty Lake Police Officers and Spokane Police Officers began to monitor the pursuit and deployed along I-90 to potentially assist.

On I-90, prior to Barker Road, Spokane County Deputies took over the pursuit.  During the pursuit, the driver reached speeds at times of over 100 mph, erratically hit his breaks, and swerved to avoid spike strips.

With little to no traffic, the pursuit continued until a tire of the vehicle went flat and disintegrated from successful spike strip deployments.  The driver slowed to a near stop east of Havana, and both juveniles fled to the north on foot.

Deputy Ennis caught the driver near the I-90 fence and took him into custody.  With additional deputies/officers arriving in the area to assist, the passenger was located and taken into custody a short time later near the 4500 block of East 2nd by Deputy Ennis and Deputy Turner.

Both juveniles were transported and booked in the Juvenile Detention Facility and charged with Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Resisting Arrest.  Additionally, the driver was charged with Attempting to Elude a Police Vehicle and held for his Idaho felony warrant.
