Major Crimes Detectives investigated a homicide in Browne’s Addition. The investigation concluded with the arrest of a male for Murder 2nd degree. #Update 1st Degree Murder Charge added on Monday
On August 8, 2020, around 4:38 p.m. a call for medics was received about a person slumped over inside a vehicle near Elm Street and Second Avenue. An officer responded to the call and found a deceased female inside. Medics arrived and also confirmed the death.
Officers secured the area then began to locate and interview witnesses. Major Crimes Detectives responded to take over the investigation. While this was going on, a person of interest was detained, without incident, from a residence in the immediate area.
Search warrants were obtained to seize the victim’s vehicle and search a residence in the 1900 block of west Second Avenue.
As the investigation progressed, probable cause was established to arrest 36-year-old Nathan A. Beale, who was the person of interest initially detained at the scene. After the interview with Beale concluded, he was booked into the Spokane County Jail for Murder 2nd degree.
