SPD’s Release:
Spokane Police Traffic Investigators are investigating fatality collision at Augusta and Ruby.
Spokane Police officers responded to the report of a collision at Ruby and Augusta at just after 1030 a.m. today, 07/28/2015. The collision involved two pedestrians and multiple vehicles.
The preliminary investigation indicates an SUV driven by 34 year-old Brandon P. Pratt of Spokane was north bound on Ruby. Pratt’s vehicle left the roadway, driving onto the sidewalk and striking a female who had a small child and a stroller with her. Pratt’s vehicle then struck a vehicle parked in a parking lot, pushing that vehicle into other parked vehicles.
Citizens rendered aid to the severely injured adult female, but she succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The child sustained minor injuries. Pratt was uninjured.
There were indications that Pratt was impaired by alcohol and/or drugs at the time of the collision. Pratt was booked in the Spokane County Jail on a Vehicular Homicide Charge.
The Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identity of the pedestrian at a later date.
This investigation is continuing and police are asking that anyone who witnessed the collision call Crime Check 456-2233.
