Two Arrested for Multiple Violent Crimes

The Spokane Police Department arrested two people believed to be involved in ongoing violent crimes.

On February 15th, 2018, two males were arrested after an extensive investigation by Major Crimes.  Vincent W. Birdtail (23) and a 15 year old juvenile were arrested and booked for Robbery 1st degree, Attempted Robbery 1st degree, Assault 1stdegree and outstanding warrants.

SPD Major Crimes with the assistance of the Special Investigation Unit (SIU), Targeted Crimes Unit (TCU), Patrol Anti-Crime Team (PACT), and SWAT conducted a special detail in the North Central neighborhood regarding some violent crimes.

One incident involved a carjacking at 2nd Avenue and Division Street on February 13th, 2018. (Incident #2018-20028449).  Another incident involved a shooting in the area of Lincoln Street and Fredrick Avenue on February 14th, 2018. (Incident #2018-20028449).

During the special detail, Birdtail and a juvenile were contacted.  The juvenile lied about his name but officers confirmed his identity and arrested him on an outstanding felony warrant.  The juvenile was in possession of a handgun.

Birdtail and the juvenile were arrested and booked for the carjacking incident along with the shooting incident from February 13th and 14th, 2018.  The investigation is ongoing and more felony charges may be forthcoming.

This is a great example of the dedicated hard work and cooperation between SPD specialty units to apprehend subjects involved in violent crime.  SPD will continue to fight violent crime to keep our community safe.
