Spokane Police Major Crimes Detectives, following up information provided by Washington State Patrol, arrested Christopher A. Cain (51) Tuesday night for 1st Degree Assault with a Firearm and Drive-By Shooting in connection with a shooting that took place on March 29th, 2016, near the Zip Trip in the 2000 block of north Hamilton.

Spokane Police Patrol officers responded to the report of a shooting on March 29, 2016, just before 11:00pm, at the Zip Trip store in the 2000 block of north Hamilton. Reports were a dark colored SUV had pulled into the parking lot and the passenger, later identified as Cain, had fired at least one round towards another male in the parking lot.

After releasing surveillance footage to other local law enforcement agencies, Major Crimes Detectives were contacted by Washington State Patrol Trooper Randall Elkins who recognized and identified Cain as the suspect. Cain was taken into custody without incident Tuesday night, April 5, 2016, just after 6:00pm near his residence in the 2600 block of north Market. The SUV he was driving during the time of his arrest appeared to be the very same vehicle in the surveillance footage and was impounded as evidence.

Cain is a convicted felon. He made his first court appearance on this charge at 1:30 yesterday.

This is just one of many examples of local law enforcement working together to keep the Spokane community safe.
