Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Appleway

Spokane Valley Traffic Unit continues to investigate last night’s motorcycle crash on Appleway at Dartmouth in Spokane Valley. The two adult male riders, on separate motorcycles, suffered life-threatening injuries and were transported to the hospital. One later died due to his injuries, and the second was last known to be listed in critical condition.

On September 25, 2019, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Spokane Valley Deputies responded to a reported motorcycle crash on Appleway near Dartmouth.  Additional information stated at least two motorcycles were involved, and the riders were seriously injured.

Initial witness information states four motorcycles were traveling east on Appleway Blvd.  Two of the sportbikes accelerated heavily, pulling away from the second pair at a high rate of speed.

Both motorcycles failed to negotiate the slight righthand curve, and both struck the curb and sidewalk on the north side of the roadway.  The bikes went down independently of each other and came to rest over 300 feet away.

Both male riders sustained severe and life-threatening injuries.

Spokane Valley Fire quickly arrived at the scene and provided medical care.  The riders were transported to the hospital where one later succumbed to his injuries, and the other was in critical condition.

Traffic Unit Investigators responded to the scene to continue the investigation. Both riders were wearing helmets at the time of the incident. Speed and intoxicants are believed to be contributing factors in this tragic crash.

SIRT Team Volunteers responded to assist with traffic control past 2:00 a.m., while investigators processed and documented the scene.
