Eighteen year old, 6’3”, 250 lb. suspect threatens wheelchair-bound senior with knife while stealing his phone.
On May 12, 2020, at approximately 1:30PM, SPD responded to a 911 call from the 200 block of S Wall St. regarding an armed robbery. The victim stated the suspect asked to borrow his phone to call his mom, so he let him use his phone. The suspect was on the phone for a long time and would not return the phone when asked. When asked a final time to return the phone, the victim said the suspect threatened him with a knife and said he would cut him if he touched him. The victim said he is elderly and paraplegic, and he is confined to a wheel chair so he was unable to defend himself. The suspect then ran off with the phone.
The suspect was described as a white male in his late teens or early 20’s wearing all black and wearing a backpack. The knife was described as a serrated edged blade with a knuckle guard. The victim didn’t know the suspect’s real name, but knew he went by the street name “Twinkie.”
Officers knew “Twinkie” was the street name for Blue Darling (18) and quickly located him near Sprague Ave and Howard St walking with another male. SPD recovered Darling’s backpack and inside it they found a large serrated edged knife. The male walking with Darling told SPD the knife belonged to Darling. The knife matched the description the victim gave of the weapon he was threatened with, which had a serrated edge with holes in it and a knuckle guard.
Darling was arrested for 1st Degree Robbery and booked into jail.
Darling was arrested as recently as last month for Robbery 2nd
